So Many New Words + Potty News

Each day, it seems Gavin is saying more and more!  Recently, I posted this video of Gavin on Facebook, figured I"ll post it here too!

My favorite is him saying, "Baby Oil"..it's too cute!!!!

Just today, he said, "open it" and handed me a bottle of bubbles.

He's also saying penny, when he sees a penny!  (I've been showing him coins and telling him what they are, the penny is his favorite!!)

I also got him to say, "I went Potty!".  Yes, he went potty 2 times today in his potty chair (standing up!)  The first time he was about to get in the bath, and I asked him if he needed to go potty, he said no and ran to the bedroom, the he looked like he was going to pee, I grabbed the potty chair, and he went!  The second time, daddy was using the bathroom, gavin ran in there (still naked) and pees in his potty chair!  He got a whole pack of fruit snacks and we did a potty dance and put 2 stickers on our potty progress chart!  I'm so proud of him!  We have a long ways to go, but I'm not rushing his potty training.

Day 3 - Crazy about Moons!

It's Day 3 in our challenge, and I'm finding it very hard to keep Gavin occupied!  He is such a busy bee and has to be doing something or he is super bored and will let you know it!

Our theme this week in homeschool is Moons!

I found this awesome hanging wooden Moon with stars at the Dollar store that we painted this morning.

He loves to paint!

This is his finished project :)

then we went to Barnes & Noble (they have toddler story time every Tuesday and Friday!)

This is Gavin being funny!  He loved jumping on and off that stage.

Then after story time they have craft time.  We made Mice with Candy Canes and Felt, which we can hang on our tree.  The candy cane didn't last long, it was eaten as soon as we got home

After craft time, Gavin played with the other children at the train table.  He loved it!  Which is good, cause I got him a smaller version for Christmas, so I'm glad to know he'll enjoy!

I found this awesome silicone bake ware at the dollar store, shaped like a moon, which is perfect for our theme this week!

I had some pancake batter that we whipped up and baked.

I think it turned out great!

Gavin dove right in!  LOVED it!

I finally got it away from him to put on a plate, lol

Day 2 - Loads of Fun

It's day 2 of our Hands on Play Challenge!

Below you'll see a strainer with pipe cleaners!

I sat them on top of the bowl and waited to see if Gavin noticed it when he walked into the room, this was me inviting him to play.

He was very curious and took the bait :)

I don't think he liked the activity much, so we moved on.

Below, we took some pom pom balls and sorted them by color!  But then he kept trying to feed blue the balls, so we had to take them away, lol.

We learned the letter "K" today!  Normally we just color our coloring pages, so today I figured we'd mix it up a bit and use our pom pom balls!

Then, Gavin wanted to sing and play with his dog guitar!

He's using the maraca as a microphone, he loves to sing

It was really cold outside, so we brought our 4-wheeler in.  He had fun going "boom" into the kitchen cabinets and doors.

We hit up a new library today in Rural Hall for Toddler Story time.  There were only 3 other kids there.  He did so well.  Last time we went to story time, he had a tantrum and we had to leave.  He enjoyed this one much better!

a girl that he loved sitting next to <3

after story time, they had craft time!  We got to make a reindeer ornament out of popsicle sticks for our tree!

after that, we got to color a raccoon!

later we had playdough time!

Today was long and fun!  We had so many things to see and do!

A visit to the Children's Musuem!

Today, I took Gavin to the Children's Museum, and I am really impressed.  It was our first time there.  They have some amazing activities/rooms for the children.  Gavin had a great time in each room.

Here are some photos from our trip!

this was a neat lit up table

30 Day Challenge - Hands on Play

It's been a long time since I've written in Gavin's blog, and that makes me feel a little bad. yikes!  He's growing up so fast, and time seems to slip by before we know it!
I'm taking a 30 day Hands on Play Challenge.  (hoping that this will last past our 30 days!)

My mission is to break out of our ordinary routine, forget about the chores and unimportant to do lists (which all can wait!), and learn how to really play with Gavin!!

Each day I'm going to do one or several hands on activities with Gavin from things around the house!

This is going to be fun...and it starts NOW!!!!
